Logically’s Response to the Kaseya Security Incident - July 7, 2021 Update

Liz Riley

At 10:30am PST on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 Logically took the proactive steps of temporarily shutting down our core monitoring system, Kaseya. This action was a direct and proactive response to the Kaseya security incident.

After making the decision to shut down access to the software, Kaseya’s internal incident response team sprang into action to determine the nature of the attack. Law enforcement and government cybersecurity agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), were notified and immediately engaged. Soon after the attack, with the assistance from the FBI and CISA, Kaseya identified the root cause of the attack.

As a result of Logically’s diligence in our security approach and configurations, our systems and our client systems were not impacted in any way by this breach.

It is important to understand that breaches and attacks are inevitable, because criminals are always finding new ways to break in. Strong password policies, security awareness training, solid backups and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) should all be part of your cybersecurity approach. Given the current and anticipated high degree of cyber threat activity, it’s vital that you are well-prepared to defend your organization’s environment when a cyber threat occurs.

Our customers can always reach us at our 24/7 support line for any assistance or service requests. We apologize for any delay this may cause in our service delivery, but we feel confident in this approach to ensure Logically and our clients are safe and secure during this vulnerable period.
